So it’s no secret that I’m obsessed with eye products. Foundations, lipsticks, ect… it’s all cool, but eye shadows, eye liners, and mascaras.. they’re life. I seriously have like 100 eye shadow compacts & 1 foundation (lol). But lets face it there’s nothing worse than paying $30 for a product and then realizing its dry/flaky or goopy/sticky. That’s why the other day I was at Sephora looking for a small trial size of mascara when I started talking to one of the workers and she recommended Lancome Monsieur.
What It Is.
According to the manufacturer Monsieur is “A high-volume mascara that delivers bold lash volume for up to 24 hours”
My First Impression.
I really like that the brush is big but firm. Sometimes with mascara you can get a big brush that is hard to control & ends up clumping when you put it on- but not monsieur. I also like the ultra rich silk-like formula that really coats every single lash.
What I liked.
This mascara was very easy to use and really did deliver long lasting volume. After one swipe my lashes looked bold and defined & after two they nearly doubled! I also liked that it lasted all night. Both events I wore this product two were involving late night drinks & I may or may not have fallen asleep with my makeup on (gasp) but the moral of the story here is I woke up and my makeup still looked flawless! That being said it’s not impossible to remove either.. a simple micellar water did the trick. I also like that this product is formulated without parabens or phthalates which have been linked to damage for humans and for the environment.
What I Wasn’t Crazy About.
There wasn’t a ton I found wrong with this mascara but one thing I wasn’t a fan of was the drying time. You really had to wait a few minutes before applying a second coat or the formula has a tend to mush.. for lack of a better word. I tried it the first time and didn’t wait and found it to stick too much to the already coated lashes and made them look a little spidery. The second time though I waited & applied to only the tips of my lashes and it worked great! Also because it’s a thicker formula there can be a bit of build up on the tip of the wand that can end up leaving an undesired smudgy effect.
My Overall Thoughts.
The worker at Sephora highly recommended this mascara for bold lashes & I can see why! I really liked this mascara and plan to use it in my makeup routine a lot! Honestly I think this would be a great addition to any makeup routine so long as you have a few extra minutes to let the formula dry!
What’s your favorite mascara??
