Sunday Funday

Happy Sunday guys!! This was a longgg weekend for me! It was my birthday Saturday & we did our yearly birthday hike at Phelps mountain in the Adirondacks in Upstate NY. Phelps is one of the 46 high peaks we’re working our way towards hiking. It’s an estimated 8.8 mile hike, and takes around 6-8 hours to hike. We however, thought it would be fun to hike to the halfway point & camp at the provided camp sites, then finish the hike this morning.

On our way in was a little cloudy/overcast & we didn’t get to the mountain until around 2 since we were staying over. It was a beautiful area- I stopped to take pictures many times and will post them later- and very well populated. Apparently this particular mountain has a big bear problem so we had to take extra precaution (no food unless stored in a bear canister away from camp, no fires). It was a very cold night so we put our sleeping bags together and just read and relaxed. This morning was a beautiful day to hike, and we finished by stopping by the nearby creek where elliott fished and I read.

Needless to say we’re exhausted today! I plan to sleep early and enjoy every second of it!

I hope you all had great weekends also! Did you do anything fun?

Hi Miranda, happy belated birthday to you! Wow , you are wonderful to do a hike like that , and very brave to sleep among the bears! I don’t think I could do that knowing that they are out there. I can imagine it was so nice by the creek , with Elliott fishing and you relaxing. I hope you got some sleep! WE had a weekend of being by the pool and a softball tournament to go to with Dana , luckily it was in our home town so not much travelling. Her softball team came over Saturday to cool off (88 degrees during games) after it was over. Have a great week Dear, Huggs, Terri xoxo.

That sounds like a great weekend! How is Dana liking softball so far? I know you were a bit nervous at the beginning! The scenery at our hike was so pretty with the lake & mountains and river! I’ll post pictures soon!! The bears were definitely scary! We didn’t know it was such a problem until we had already driven 2 hours to get there so we figured “were here, might as well” haha!

Dana loves softball Miranda. Thank you for asking! She is on a team of girls who have bonded well even though they didn’t know each other too well beforehand. WE have a weekend tournament this week coming , travelling about 36 miles. Looking forward to your photos < hugs, Terri xoxo.
